This Cookie Policy explains how James Tugwell uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember information about your visit, such as your preferences, and help the site owner understand how the site is used.
Necessary cookies make the website work and remember your cookie choice. They don’t track you and can’t be switched off.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) help us understand which pages are visited and how people find the site, so we can improve it. They are optional and are only set if you click “Accept analytics”. Until you do, Google Analytics does not load at all. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
| Cookie | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| jtp_consent | This website | Necessary | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don’t ask on every page. | 6 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Analytics (optional) | Distinguishes one visitor from another so we can count visits and see how the site is used. | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Analytics (optional) | Keeps track of your current visit (session) for the same reporting. | 2 years |
Google Analytics is configured with advertising features switched off and IP addresses anonymised. Google’s use of this data is described in Google’s cookie policy.
Some features are provided by other companies and only load when you choose to use them. When they load, those providers may set their own cookies, which are governed by their own policies:
Google reviews on the homepage are fetched by our server, so viewing them doesn’t set Google cookies. Reviewer profile photos are loaded from Google’s servers. We also measure page loading speed with Vercel Speed Insights, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. If you withdraw it, analytics cookies are removed and Google Analytics stops loading.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. The ICO has guidance on managing cookies.
We may update this policy if the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
